Build a whole steampunk cast in minutes, not months.
2D Infinite Character Forge - Steampunk Edition is a procedural character generator for Unity. Pick a race, a role and a seed, click Generate, and you get a fully animated pixel-art character. Each seed gives a different character, and the same seed always gives the same one. Keep generating until one fits, then fine-tune it by hand.
Mechanical body parts
Swap organic limbs for clockwork. Every character can have articulated or industrial arms, articulated or spring legs, and mechanical lenses or magnifiers for eyes. Edit both sides together, or customise left and right separately and copy between them. Pick brass, copper, steel or iron, or set your own metal, joint and glow colours. You also choose how often generated characters come with replacements: none, a few or many.
Eight races, six roles
Humans, elves, dwarves, gnomes, goblins, orcs, undead and aquatic folk, across twelve variants. Combine any race with one of six roles: Inventor, Airship Captain, Mechanic, Factory Worker, Aristocrat or Automaton Soldier. A role sets the clothing and gear without changing the body underneath.
A dedicated steampunk wardrobe
- 8 weapons, including Tesla Rifle, Steam Pistol, Saber and Pipe Wrench
- 8 headwear choices, including Top Hat, Aviator Cap, Engineer Helmet and Goggles
- 10 outfits, from work aprons and overalls to greatcoats and officer coats
- 3 armour pieces and 4 packs, including Steam Boiler, Pressure Tank and Clockwork Pack
- Editable colours on all gear
Fully animated
14 animations: Idle, Walk, Run, Jump, Roll, Attack, Attack1, Attack2, Shoot, Reload, Block, Hurt, Celebrate and Die. Mechanical arms hold weapons with the same hand positions as organic ones.
Ready for your game
- Export PNGs, editable prefabs or baked animated prefabs
- Save presets and JSON definitions and keep editing later
- Change appearance and body parts at runtime through a simple C# API
- Sample showcase scene with all eight races
Fully customisable
Full, editable C# source is included. Races are plain data presets, so you can tweak existing ones or create your own. Everything runs locally inside Unity, with no online service and no subscription.
Great for
Side-view 2D games with a steampunk, Victorian or fantasy-industrial setting: platformers, action games, RPGs, roguelikes, tactics and strategy games. It is especially useful when you need lots of distinct heroes, NPCs, crowds or enemies without drawing every sprite yourself.
