Quick start and docs included.

MotionFX is a tool for creating procedural animation directly in the Unity Editor. Compared to traditional animation curves, procedural motion can be easier to configure and it can also be configured dynamically at runtime (to respond to gameplay).

MotionFX animations can be previewed without having to enter Play Mode (for quick iteration cycles).

Main components

  • SpringFX: Models a physical spring for a satisfying bounce. This component can also be configured to act as a traditional SmoothDamp or Lerp follow.
  • TweenFX: Animates a property from A to B using an easing curve, with or without looping.
  • NoiseFX: Animates a property using procedural noise (like Perlin noise) and periodic functions (like sine or square waves).

More components

  • SetFX: Instantly sets a value on a property.
  • SequenceFX: Plays a group of motions in sequence or in parallel.
  • TextureBlender: Blends any two textures into another texture. This lets us animate texture properties.

Supported properties

  • Any public C# property on any component
  • Any Material property on a Renderer component
  • Any AnimatorController parameter on an Animator component
  • Any property on a VisualEffect component

Bonus

  • Integrates with the Feel package
  • Combines with Unity Constraints, Animation Rigging, and Splines
  • Flexible API to support user-defined properties and types
  • Async/await API
