Create infinite animated pixel U.S. Army soldiers with 2D Infinite Character Forge – a Procedural pixel character generator and animator.

Package type: Editor tool + runtime library (procedural 2D pixel-art character generator). No pre-made sprite sheets: all character art is generated by C# code in the Editor or at runtime.

Generated images

  • Frame size: 112×80 px by default (32×32 style canvas plus padding for animations; the style canvas can be set from 16 to 128 px)
  • Characters are about 16–25 px tall; the sprite pivot is at the feet; 16 pixels per unit by default
  • Color depth: 32-bit RGBA (Texture2D RGBA32, point filtering, no mipmaps)
  • Transparency: binary alpha (fully transparent background); partial alpha only on ghost/spirit characters and the Phase animation
  • Export: PNG (integer scale 1–16×), editable prefabs, baked animated prefabs (sprite atlas per animation), JSON presets

Content

  • 22 roles × 3 eras (WWII, Vietnam, Modern); unlimited variations from seeds
  • 31 weapons, 13 headgear types, 9 uniforms, 7 load-bearing/armor types, 6 back items, 8 camouflage options
  • 44 animation slots: Idle, Walk, Run, Jump, Die, Hurt, Block, Celebrate, Attack, Roll, Cast, Attack1, Attack2, Shoot, Reload, Shamble, Lurch, Grab, Bite, Rise, Float, Phase, Draw, Burst, KneelFire, March, Salute, TipHat, Throw, Dig, Chop, Kneel, Sit, Play, GrenadeThrow, Crawl, Prone, ProneFire, Crouch, CrouchFire, Peek, Heal, Radio, HandSignal (3–12 frames each)
  • Included files: 107 C# scripts, 2 demo scenes, 6 documentation preview images, documentation (Markdown)

Architecture

  • Pure C# engine (no UnityEngine dependency) and thin Unity components (PixelCharacterView, PixelCharacterAnimator)
  • Editor window, inspectors, prefab exporter
  • Separate assembly definitions: Runtime, Editor, Samples, Tests
  • Main API: ArmyLibrary.Generate, CharacterAnimationRenderer.RenderFrame, PixelCharacterView.SetRole / SetEra / SetPattern / SetWear / SetEquipment, plus animation events (ShotFired, AttackMoment, AnimationCompleted)
  • Characters are serialized as JSON-compatible data (CharacterDefinition)

Dependencies: None required. Optional: URP + Shader Graph for the included lit sprite shader; Unity Test Framework for the included EditMode tests.

Platforms: All Unity platforms (managed C# only, no native plugins). On WebGL, generation runs on the main thread; on other platforms the demo uses worker threads.

Limitations: Animations are visual poses only; movement, projectiles, collision and damage are handled by your game. Effects (muzzle flash, smoke, rockets) are drawn into the sprite frames, not particle systems. No vehicles or animals.

Unity version: 2022.3 or newer

Create unlimited animated pixel-art soldiers of the U.S. Army in three eras: World War II, Vietnam and the modern day. Every character is generated procedurally from a seed and can be edited completely, inside the Unity Editor or at runtime. It is a good fit for top-down and side-view shooters, tactics and strategy games, war RPGs, base builders and squad games, and for retro or chibi-style military projects.

Ready roles:

Pick one of 22 ready-made roles: rifleman, machine gunner, grenadier, anti-tank gunner, sniper, medic, radio operator, combat engineer, military police, tanker, aviator, paratrooper, ranger, Special Forces, recon, special operations, color guard, and more. Then pick an era. The same rifleman wears olive drab wool and carries an M1 rifle in World War II, jungle fatigues and an M16 in Vietnam, and a camouflage uniform, plate carrier and M4 today. Each era has its own uniforms, helmets, webbing, boots, weapons and colours.

Customize everything:

Everything can be customized: the person (skin, hair, face, build, age), the uniform, the camouflage pattern, the helmet and its extras (net, cover, goggles, night vision, headset), the weapon, gear, rank insignia, helmet markings, face paint and every colour. Gear quality and wear go from fresh-issue to battle-worn.

Ready animations:

Characters come with 44 animations, including military ones: grenade throw, low crawl, prone, prone fire, crouch, crouch fire, peek from cover, first aid, radio and hand signals. Weapons have muzzle flash, ejected brass, rocket backblast and a flamethrower stream, and machine guns fire automatic bursts. When the hands are busy, rifles are slung on the back.

Weird War ready:

The included fantasy races and the zombie and ghost layers make “Weird War” characters possible too. Every character can turn into zombie in five steps without losing visual identity!

Includes:

The package contains full editable C# source and needs no online services. Export characters as PNGs, editable prefabs or baked animated prefabs.
