Create infinite animated pixel Christmas characters with 2D Infinite Character Forge – a Procedural pixel character generator and animator.

Package type: Editor tool + runtime library (procedural 2D pixel-art character generator). No pre-made sprite sheets: all character art is generated by C# code in the Editor or at runtime.

Generated images

  • Frame size: 112×80 px by default (32×32 style canvas plus padding for animations; the style canvas can be set from 16 to 128 px). Large “Giant” characters use a 120×88 px frame.
  • Characters are about 15–21 px tall (Small), 17–27 px (Normal) and 29–30 px (Large) at the same pixel size, plus hats, horns and props. The sprite pivot is at the feet; 16 pixels per unit by default.
  • Color depth: 32-bit RGBA (Texture2D RGBA32, point filtering, no mipmaps)
  • Transparency: binary alpha (fully transparent background); partial alpha only on frosty breath puffs
  • Emission: a separate emission mask per frame (lit pixels only) for Bloom, stored as the _EmissionMap secondary sprite texture
  • Export: PNG (integer scale 1–16×) with an optional _Emission.png, editable prefabs, baked animated prefabs (sprite atlas and emission atlas per animation), JSON presets

Content

  • 22 roles in 5 groups, 28 race presets, 6 body materials (flesh, snow, gingerbread, wood, ice, fur), 7 households, 3 size classes; unlimited variations from seeds
  • 19 held items and weapons, 18 headwear types, 21 outfits, 6 shields, 6 back items, 5 neckwear, 3 gloves, 6 boots, 4 over-outfit items
  • 4 snow levels, 5 fairy-light strings with 6 light patterns, 8 knit patterns, 12 emblems
  • 7 gear quality grades (5 materials, 3 craft levels, condition 0–100, 5 wear kinds)
  • 22 animation slots: Idle, Walk, Run, Jump, Die, Hurt, Block, Celebrate, Attack, Attack1, Attack2, Roll, Reload, Shoot, Throw, Give, Wave, Sing, Ring, Skate, Dance, Sneak (3–12 frames each)
  • Included files: 90 C# scripts, 2 shaders and materials, 2 demo scenes, 23 documentation preview images and GIFs, documentation (Markdown)

Architecture

  • Pure C# engine (no UnityEngine dependency) and thin Unity components (PixelCharacterView, PixelCharacterAnimator, PixelCharacterEmission)
  • Editor window, inspectors, prefab exporter, scene builders
  • Separate assembly definitions: Runtime, Editor, Samples, Tests
  • Main API: ChristmasLibrary.Generate, CharacterAnimationRenderer.RenderFrame, PixelCharacterView.SetRole / SetHousehold / SetBody / SetSnow / SetLights / SetKnit / SetFrame / SetGrade / SetEquipment
  • Animation events: AttackMoment, ShootMoment, ReloadMoment, ThrowMoment, GiveMoment, AnimationCompleted
  • Characters are serialized as JSON-compatible data (CharacterDefinition)

Dependencies: None required. Optional: URP + Shader Graph for the included lit sprite shader; a Bloom post-process (URP Volume or Post Processing) for the glow; Unity Test Framework for the included EditMode tests.

Platforms: All Unity platforms (managed C# only, no native plugins). On WebGL, generation runs on the main thread; on other platforms the demo uses worker threads.

Limitations: Animations are visual poses only; movement, projectiles, collision and scoring are handled by your game. Effects (thrown snowballs, carol notes, bell rings, skate spray, sparkles) are drawn into the sprite frames, not particle systems. Lights are pixel colours plus an emission mask, not Unity Light components. No vehicles, sleighs or animals (reindeer are not included).

Unity version: 2022.3 or newer

2D Infinite Character Forge - Christmas Edition generates animated pixel-art characters for Christmas and winter games. The characters are generated in the Unity Editor or at runtime, and there is no online service.

Pick a role, a race and a seed and click Generate. You get a fully animated character with 22 animation slots, ready to export as a PNG, an editable prefab or a baked animated prefab. Every seed gives a new character, and every part of it can be edited.

22 roles in five groups

  • North Pole: Santa, Mrs Claus, Workshop Elf, Toymaker Elf, Reindeer Keeper
  • Folk: Tomte, Lucia, Yule Witch, Krampus
  • Toys: Nutcracker, Toy Soldier, Gingerbread Folk, Snowman
  • Winter Court: Snow Queen, Frost Spirit, Snow Beast
  • Town: Caroler, Skater, Town Child, Market Vendor, Chimney Sweep, Mischief Goblin

Fully customizable

Role, race, household, body material, size, gear quality, snow, lights and knit patterns are independent layers, and you can combine them freely. A gingerbread Santa, a dwarf caroler in a blizzard or an ice-bodied Lucia is one click away.

28 race presets. 8 of them are new: Christmas Elf, Tomte, Snowfolk, Gingerbread, Nutcracker, Krampus, Snow Beast and Frost Spirit. You can also create your own presets.

  • 6 body materials: flesh, snow, gingerbread, painted wood, ice and fur. Each race keeps its own shapes.
  • 3 size classes at the same pixel size: Small (elves, children, gingerbread folk), Normal and Large (Krampus, snow beasts). Characters are never scaled.
  • 7 households. Each has its own costume colours, fairy-light colours and patterns, gift wrapping and emblem.
  • Snow levels from a light dusting to a blizzard with caps and icicles.
  • Fairy-light strings, knit sweater patterns, horns and frosty breath.
  • Gear quality set per slot by material, craft and condition. Wear includes grime, chimney soot, patches, tears and dents, so the same rolling pin can be a sooty hand-me-down or a North Pole heirloom.
  • A curated festive catalog:Held items: candy canes, birch rods, hand bells, star wands, lanterns, presents, snowballs, candles, a pop gun and more
Headwear: Santa, elf and tomte hats, the Lucia candle crown, shakos
    Back items: sacks
Shields: peppermint, gift and ice shields
Footwear: ice skates, hooves and more

22 animations

Idle, Walk, Run, Jump, Hurt, Die, Block, Celebrate, Attack (three variants), Roll, Reload and Shoot, plus 8 Christmas animations: Throw (a snowball or a present), Give, Wave, Sing, Ring, Skate, Dance and Sneak. Throw and Give have animation events for your gameplay code.

Lights and Bloom

Fairy lights, candles, lanterns, ice magic and glowing eyes are part of the character. They follow every animation frame and produce an emission mask for Bloom. The package includes:

  • an additive emission layer component
  • emissive sprite shaders and materials
  • _Emission.png export

Suitable for

Christmas and winter-themed platformers, snowball-fight and party games, cozy village and life sims, holiday events in existing games, RPG side quests, card and tower-defence games, and seasonal mobile games.

Included

  • Editor window with live preview (Color, Emission Mask and Glow views)
  • Presets, JSON save and load
  • Runtime API: SetRole, SetHousehold, SetBody, SetSnow and others
  • Showcase scene and a snowball-fight demo, where 180+ characters are generated live in a snowy village square at night
  • Full editable C# source
  • EditMode tests
  • English documentation
  • Optional URP material

Works with the built-in render pipeline and URP. It is a separate edition from the other 2D Infinite Character Forge editions and can be installed alongside them in the same project. All designs are original and based on generic folklore.
