Fish School AI - Tropical Aquarium Set is a lightweight fish schooling simulation and ready-to-use aquarium environment for Unity Universal Render Pipeline (URP).

Each aquarium operates as an independent unit through AquariumUnit, allowing developers to place multiple tanks within a single scene without scene-wide singletons. The system includes Boids flocking algorithms with burst swimming behaviors tuned for small fish, hunger-driven feeding logic, and collider-based obstacle avoidance. All parameters—such as schooling cohesion, swim speed, reaction distance, hunger thresholds, and food sinking properties—are configurable through ScriptableObjects and inspector fields. The full C# source code is included without precompiled DLLs, enabling direct modification of steering logic, spawning controllers, and interaction events.

This package suits aquarium simulators, idle and management games, ambient background elements in RPGs and adventure titles, architectural visualizations, and interactive VR relaxation experiences. Developers can deploy the preassembled aquarium prefabs directly into a scene or adapt the underlying fish simulation to custom water volumes and larger marine environments.

Key Features

  • Natural Boids Schooling AI: Small-fish simulation featuring cohesion, alignment, separation, pitch limits, and burst swimming propulsion.
  • Per-Tank Scoping: Isolated simulation contexts via AquariumUnit that manage dedicated fish registries, obstacle queries, and feeding services per aquarium.
  • Interactive Feeding System: Mouse click and touch tap food drops with sinking physics, reaction distances, hunger thresholds, consumption events, and cooldown limits.
  • GPU Vertex Swimming Animation: Deformation handled via FishShaderMotionDriver without skeletal animation overhead, while retaining bone and weight structures for custom rigging.
  • Custom URP Shaders: Includes standard Lit FishBody and specialized FishBody Iridescent shaders for angle-dependent structural color, dynamic caustics projection, and water surface effects.
  • Ready-to-Use 3D Environment: Includes Neon Tetra, Black Neon Tetra, a 120×50×55 cm rectangular glass tank, cabinet stand, aquatic plants, stones, sculpted sand, and food pellet prefabs.
  • Camera & Viewer Utilities: Orbit and focus camera controllers with focus-target cycling and field-of-view zoom control.
  • Runtime Batch Spawning: Programmable spawn tables and API methods for instantiating fish schools dynamically via script.

Included Scenes

  • 01_MinimalTank: Fixed-camera baseline setup with white lighting.
  • 02_AquariumViewer: Full viewer demo featuring camera switching UI, feeding controls, dual fish species, and blue accent lighting.
  • 03_FeedingSample: Fixed-angle scene dedicated to verifying food drop and predator-prey ingestion behaviors.
  • 04_RuntimeSpawnSample: Demonstration of programmatic batch spawning from C# scripts.
  • FishBodyPreview: Standalone tuning scene for previewing fish swimming deformation and yaw response in Play Mode.
