The EasyField asset consists of two separate modules: Core and Demo, represented by their corresponding folders and assembly definitions.
The Core module contains the primary engine code, which you will want to use in your future game project (includes all base classes for nodes, links, fields, and algorithms).
The Demo module contains launchable scenes showing the possibilities of EasyField, plus all concrete code implementations (cells, hexes, free vertices, their data models, views, and service components to manipulate the field area) along with prefabs, resources, and UI components used in these sample scenes. You can easily choose only one demo scene that matches your needs to use as a baseline/start, and safely delete everything else in the Demo folder.
Both Core and Demo require the following plugin to be installed in your project:
- Zenject (required)
The Demo additionally uses this built-in Unity package:
- TextMeshPro (from Unity)
Please ensure everything is installed in your project for the framework to compile.
EasyField Pro is a comprehensive, production-ready framework designed to be a rock-solid architectural foundation for your next 2D top-down game — including, but not limited to, turn-based strategies, tactical RPGs, tower defenses, and city builders.
While primarily tailored for tile-based games, it provides a clean, highly optimized base infrastructure and robust data management. EasyField takes the complexity out of map generation and runtime editing, handling advanced pathfinding across multiple field types - both gridded and freeform spatial fields. Save your development time with this fully functional, out-of-the-box solution, and focus on what matters most: your game's unique core mechanics!
### ⚠️ IMPORTANT: Zenject Dependency
This specific version is built from the ground up on top of Zenject/Extenject (the popular Dependency Injection framework for Unity).
Get Zenject for free from Unity Store: here.
Note: If you don't like to use Zenject in your projects, other standalone versions (VContainer-based and pure C#) are coming in the near future!

### Features overview:
- Three Field Types, One Unified Engine: Full support for Rectangular Grids, Hexagonal Grids (Flat-Topped & Pointy-Topped with Odd/Even offset schemes), and continuous Spatial Fields (unaligned, freeform graphs). All three share a single generic core, making pathfinding calculations completely universal.
- Runtime Field & Network Editor: Easily spawn, delete, or modify nodes (cells, hexes, freeform vertexes) and their connection links at runtime using hotkeys, custom UI tools, and pointer click/drag handlers.
- Advanced A* Pathfinding with Shortcuts/Teleports: A highly optimized, generic pathfinding system featuring a complete set of field-specific heuristics, including Manhattan, Chebyshev, Octile, Euclidean, and specialized Hexagonal distance calculations. It also includes out-of-the-box support for portal and teleport networks.
- Flexible Architecture (Data-View Separation): Strict separation between data models and their visual representations for nodes and links, unified via shared ID.
- Robust Core Infrastructure: Includes ready-to-use entity ID-driven storages, field area builders, entity creation modules, and scene service components to manipulate field entities seamlessly.
- 12 Comprehensive Demo Scenes: Highly modular examples showcasing various map types, movement restrictions, and entity interactions. Every scene component is completely decoupled - choose the appropriate scene as your project's baseline and use only the components you need.
- Extensive Memory Optimization: Enjoy zero runtime GC allocations thanks to full object pooling for nodes and links. Furthermore, instead of heavy direct object referencing, the framework architecture completely decouples Data and View by handling event binding through a pure ID-driven approach. Scene components for manipulating entities pass only IDs: this prevents memory leaks, drastically simplifies state synchronization, and keeps the code incredibly lightweight and clean.
- Save System and Serialization: Seamlessly serialize and export your maps either as a readable JSON file or as a compressed GZip binary format.
- Zenject / Extenject Integration: Built from the ground up for developers who love Dependency Injection. Leverages contexts, installers, factories, and decorators for smooth architectural integration.
- Production-Ready & Fully Documented: Clean, production-grade C# source code. The entire codebase is thoroughly commented and includes comprehensive documentation for all classes.

### 12 Ready-To-Use Demo Scenes Included:
EasyField comes packed with 12 carefully pre-configured demonstration scenes, complete with unique installers and controllers to showcase various design implementations:
- Scenes 1a & 1b (Square Grids): Showcases pathfinding on classic square grids with 4-way or 8-way diagonal movement, complete with varied terrain cost types.
- Scenes 2a, 2b & 2c (Freeform Spatial Fields): Demonstrates continuous 2D graphs with freely draggable vertices and manually configurable edge networks.
- Scenes 3a – 3d (Hexagonal Grids): Covers all four hexagonal grid orientation configurations, demonstrating flawless navigation across Flat-Topped (Odd-Q, Even-Q) and Pointy-Topped (Odd-R, Even-R) coordinate spaces.
- Scenes 4a, 4b & 5a (Portals): For both square and hex grids, showcases dynamic cell spawning/deletion and allows you to manually wire up custom teleport/shortcut links.
