What does this tool do?
At its core, the tool runs your image through a multi-stage compute shader pipeline modeled on how real watercolor behaves on paper:
- Mean-Shift Segmentation flattens your image into smooth, unified color regions, the same "areas of wash" you see in real watercolor paintings.
- Morphology Filtering softens or expands the edges of those regions, letting you dial in anything from crisp linework to soft, bleeding boundaries.
- Pigment Density Simulation layers turbulence, dispersion, and paper-grain textures on top of your image, recreating the organic, uneven way pigment settles into paper fibers.
- Edge Darkening adds dark rims where pigment pools at the edges of a wash.
- Dry Brush Simulation introduces grainy, broken-color patches where the "brush" runs dry, for extra texture and realism.
Every stage is independently tunable and supports presets and overrides.
The processor is built around a batch workflow:
1. Load a single texture, or drag in various at once.
2. Process and export every image in one click with **Export All**.
This is useful if you want to convert all your game's textures into a watercolor style.
