PrefabFlow is a Unity Editor tool for understanding and managing Prefab overrides, especially in nested Prefabs and Prefab Variants.

See what changed, where the effective value comes from, which Prefab level owns the override, and what Apply or Revert will actually do — before you make the change.

Select a Prefab instance, Prefab asset, or object in Prefab Mode and PrefabFlow analyzes the current Prefab context automatically.

WHAT PREFABFLOW SHOWS:

• What is overridden and what is inherited

• Inherited and current values side by side

• Where the effective value comes from

• The full Prefab and Variant inheritance chain

• Which source level owns each override

• Valid Apply targets for the selected change

• What Revert will remove or restore

• Property overrides

• Added Components

• Added GameObjects

UNDERSTAND NESTED PREFABS AND VARIANTS:

Prefab overrides can become difficult to reason about once Prefab Variants and nested Prefabs are involved.

PrefabFlow traces the selected object through its Prefab source chain so you can see where a value originated, where an override is owned, and how the current value became effective.

Instead of manually opening multiple Prefab assets and comparing values, you can inspect the inheritance chain from one place.

REVIEW APPLY BEFORE YOU COMMIT:

Before Apply, PrefabFlow shows the destination Prefab and the known consequences of writing the selected change there.

For a given override, you can see which Prefab levels are valid Apply targets instead of guessing where Unity will write the change.

This is especially useful when working with nested Prefabs or Prefab Variants where several source levels may be involved.

KNOW WHAT REVERT WILL DO

PrefabFlow explains the effect of Revert before the operation is performed.

For property overrides, you can compare the inherited and current values.

For structural overrides, PrefabFlow explains when Revert will remove an added Component or added GameObject from the instance.

EXPLICIT IMPACT INFORMATION

PrefabFlow is careful about what it claims to know.

Loaded scenes and the open Prefab Stage can be analyzed directly. Project-wide dependency checks are performed only when you explicitly request a project scan.

Impact results communicate their evidence scope instead of presenting partial project knowledge as certainty.

PrefabFlow works with:

• Prefab instances

• Prefab assets

• Prefab Variants

• Nested Prefabs

• Prefab Mode

• Property overrides

• Added Components

• Added GameObjects

• Apply workflows

• Revert workflows

There is no setup process, runtime component, cloud service, or external account.

Open Window > PrefabFlow, select a Prefab, and inspect the overrides that are already there.

SAFE EDITOR WORKFLOW

Apply and Revert use Unity's supported Prefab APIs.

PrefabFlow separates analysis from mutation so you can review an operation before performing it, with Undo support where Unity supports the operation.

PrefabFlow is an Editor-only tool. It does not add runtime Components or code to your builds.
