Ghost Edge is a shader which creates a clean outline using the edges of any mesh. It can be used for multiple purposes like a building system's placement preview, highlighting interactable objects or showing incomplete structures.

  • Outline any mesh with no extra setup, just assign the material
  • Two configurable colors switchable at runtime
  • Subtle interior fill for a ghost-like transparency effect
  • Automatic depth occlusion vs. scene geometry
  • Runs in both Play mode and Scene view

Requirements

  • Unity 6 or newer
  • HDRP only

Adjustable parameters

  • Edge Thickness: how bold the outline is
  • Depth & Normal Threshold: how sensitive the edge detection is to surface changes
  • Fill Alpha: opacity of the ghost interior
  • Valid / Invalid Color: your valid and invalid colors
