Vertex vibration/displacement shader for 2D sprites.

NOTE: This is the 2D version of our 3D Vibration Shader. If you have already purchased the 3D shader, you can get this one for a reduced price.

IMPORTANT! This asset requires the Shader Graph package for the shaders to work.

The Shader Graph package already comes bundled with most Unity versions and rendering pipelines, but it can also be imported into your project from the Package Manager window inside the Unity Editor.

Additionally, the 2D PSD Importer package is required for one of the demo scenes that showcases the shader used on a complex .psb object, but it is not a requirement for the shader itself.

Both of these packages are already included in 2D URP projects created with Unity 6+, and they can always be imported from the package manager.

This asset supports Unity 6.0+ and the Universal Render Pipeline (URP) only. It includes separate shader versions for both the URP Universal Renderer and the URP 2D Renderer.

This 2D Vibration Shader allows you to make sprite elements shake, tremble, and wobble by displacing their vertices with an animated noise-driven wave. The vibration can range from a subtle nervous jitter to a heavy, gooey distortion, making it ideal for ghosts and spirits, hit and damage reactions, unstable magical objects, charging energy, glitch effects, and enraged bosses. Ready to use out-of-the-box. Fully customizable. For Unity 6.0+.

The shader preserves the familiar URP lit material options, letting you combine the vibration effect with features such as normal maps, emission, metallic properties, and ambient occlusion. The vibration itself is highly customizable, with controls for vibration amount, vibration speed, and vibration volatility.

The asset also includes a controller script which allows you to animate the effect at runtime and create advanced effects, such as vibrations that build up and fade away, shakes that accelerate over time, and colour or emission flashes synchronised to the movement, on the same sprite. Alternatively, you can modify each shader property from your own scripts.

FEATURES:

  • Animated vertex-displacement vibration effect for 2D sprites
  • Adjustable vibration amount, speed, and volatility
  • Works on single sprites and on multi-part, bone-animated characters
  • Full lit material support: albedo, normal maps, metallic, ambient occlusion, and HDR emission
  • Runtime animation of vibration, colour, and emission via included controller script
  • Support for both URP Universal Renderer and URP 2D Renderer

BONUS: The Shader Graph Subgraph asset included in this pack is a reconstructed standard lit shader. It can be imported into your own custom Shader Graph shaders, allowing you to both create custom shader effects and keep the standard shader options such as normal maps, emission, etc. For more information, see our FREE Reconstructed Lit Shader.

Industrial-Grade Quality Control

Stability and compatibility are verified through a continuous integration pipeline that runs automated tests across different Unity versions, render pipelines, and OS versions in the cloud. This helps detect issues that may not appear on local machines and improves test repeatability and reliability.
